About PAASA
Aims and Objectives of PAASA
The Association is a non-political, non-religious and non-sexist organization.
The objectives of the Association are:
- To develop a better and deeper understanding of Pakistan, its culture, religion, and people
- To encourage and promote friendship, goodwill and better understanding between the Pakistani-Australians and other Australians
- To encourage and organise sporting activities for its members
- To provide and promote educational facilities particularly teaching Pakistani national language, Urdu, for those who desire to learn it
- To encourage and organize literary and similar cultural activities for the members and to have close contact with similar local and national organizations
- To observe and organize social gatherings on occasions of Pakistan Resolution Day in March and Independence Day in August, besides Eid Milan parties every year
- To welcome and help new arrivals whether migrants, temporary residents or students in South Australia
Membership
- Membership of the Pakistani-Australian Association of South Australia is open to all Pakistanis living in South Australia, and also to all those Australians who are interested in Pakistan and Pakistani culture.
- Ordinary Members are those who have paid the membership subscription as determined at the Annual General Meetings. Present annual subscription for family (which includes spouse and children under 18 years of age) is $30 and for singles $15.
- Students Members: A full time student above the age of 18 can be a member of the Association after paying the annual subscription as determined by the Association. Present annual subscription for students is $15.
- Honorary Members: Persons who have made valuable contribution to the national and Pakistani causes will be eligible to be considered for honorary membership and this will be decided by the Executive Committee.
